What should I know before ordering?
Like standard prints, size and placement are important factors to consider. However, with these Collector's Edition prints, there are a few other things to remember. More below!
-
Sizing
Think about where you'd like to display your prints and see if readily available frames on the market match your preferences. Consider custom framing for your print if the frame size you want does not exist.
For most open-edition prints, like the Limp Wrist, I can print them large and small, as long as it is within the same ratio as the original.
For example, the Silent Duck piece is a 4:5 ratio. It can scale to sizes like 16x20, 24x30, 32x40, 36x45, etc.
Selecting the right size can be daunting, so if you're uncertain about the ideal dimensions, not to worry. Message me via Instagram or email, and I'll make sure we find your perfect size! -
Placement of Artwork
A general rule with displaying prints is to avoid direct sunlight (UV rays) and fluorescent lights. These types of light cause irreversible damage to the color molecules in the image, which is known as photooxidation. The more the color molecules break apart, the more the image will fade.
-
UV Filters
If you plan to showcase your print in a sunlit room, be sure to use glass (glazing) that filters at least 97%-99% of UV rays. However, keep in mind that this alone does not automatically guarantee that your art is framed to conservation standards.
Nevertheless, filtering out UV radiation is an important measure to help protect and preserve your artwork. A UV filter is way, way better than no filter at all. -
Authentication
Collector's Edition prints are numbered (except for open-editions), hand-signed*, and dated. Each print comes with its own hand-signed Certificate of Authentication.
Standard prints are not hand-signed and do not come with a Certificate of Authentication.
* Hand-signed means that I personally inspect and sign each Collector's Edition print in-person, as opposed to a printed signature on standard prints. -
